Fulcrum
Richard Serra
Fulcrum is a work born out of the constraints of the relatively small area near the entrance to Liverpool Street tube station, which inspired Richard Serra to build upwards as opposed to outwards. Inside the sculpture sheets of steel meet overhead. Despite its seemingly hostile appearance, Fulcrum provides a quiet shelter from its busy surroundings. It can act as both an enclosure and as a threshold to pass through.
